About

Joanne

Life turned upside down for Jo at the age of 17 when she experienced a traumatic car accident and NDE. Unresolved trauma resulted in living with PTSD symptoms and intense periods of hypervigilance throughout her life. Growing up at the beach, love of animals, nature and the ocean remained a constant part of her nurturing and healing journey. I feel most connected to nature and animals and on weekends or in spare time you will find me walking in local rainforests, at the beach or in my studio painting.

Jo has devoted 30 years to working in the health industry as a phlebotomist, building trust, empathy, and communication skills within a diverse population in hospitals, clinics and in the home. Simultaneously she has pursued her own passion for art, teaching and inspiring others in their artistic journey.

In later years, studying Transpersonal Art Therapy and Psychotherapy opened up a whole new world, confirming the evidence of healing through art. Jo was introduced to Emotional Freedom Techniques EFT (tapping) for stress reduction and experienced the success of this practice with her own PTSD, anxiety and physical pain. Studying counselling, allowed Jo to develop new skills and techniques and integrate these with Mindfulness, Art Therapy and EFT interventions.

Jo continues to develop creative art workshops empowering women and well-being art therapy programs for schools. The practice of Mindfulness meditation blends with the therapeutic creative approach of Brush with Heart and is a balance of providing supportive counselling and creativity.

It is so inspiring building and connecting with a community of like-minded individuals, sharing ideas and collaborating on projects. Helping others heal and find a sense of purpose and acceptance through creative expression is a rewarding experience.
